Pros
Georgia-Pacific is a large company, employs many exceptionally talented people, and has a great legacy of providing useful products to society.
Cons
Georgia-Pacific, owned by Koch Industries, does not treat many of its employees in very honest, courteous, or ethical ways, in my opinion based on my experience there. I was in a group where it was widely believed that the new management of our department wanted us gone, but we were never told this, which would have been far more honorable. Some of us quit, some were let go, and some retired, but there was a feeling that we were being pushed out of the company, and many of the people who quit seemed to do so because they were being given unreasonable work assignments to accomplish. Another downside of working with the company is that I sensed we were always having to hide something - our company was reorganized at the end of 2006, and management was very strict about who could see the new structure. People in other departments were not allowed to see the new corporate structure, this level of secrecy was really unusual. One other thing - the one vice-president I encountered has a reputation for dishonesty, and that is something that he seemed to be able to do without consequence.
