Pros

-location, location, location. -Expanding internationaly

Cons

-Your staff will make significantly more money than you will. -If you're title is "manager" you will not be treated as such. You will find out about imperative information last and have no say in the decision making processes. Everything will come to a surprise and even your staff will somehow know before you do. -You are just a number. Think your role is important? Think again. No job security especially during the slow seasons. Worst part is cuts could always be made elsewhere in other departments where labor is 100% not necessary and I say that with 100% confidence and competence. -Speaking of competence; GMs are HIGHLY incompetent and think everything can be peachy just by being "nice". Wrong; this is a business and competent decisions need to be formulated as a TEAM and implemented as a TEAM. -Executive Management expects those under them to outperform with minimal resources and minimal support, all while being severely underpaid. -Those high up in the company pay no mind to what's going on internally as they are primarily focused on expanding nationally and internationally. -They try to sell you the "dream" that Highgate is a great company to work for, benefits are amazing and it's easy to move up and "make your mark". This cannot be more false. Benefits are mediocre and increase every year. They even tried taking away a couple of holidays (when union staff already get more than we do). It's not "easy" to move up as transfer forms will not be approved because they can't "afford" to lose you (that's always the excuse..even when it's been confirmed that the other property wants you) -Ownership group has absolutely NO IDEA on how to operate a hotel, never mind manage it yet they feel the need to butt in. Your manager will not correct them and just lead them to believe they are correct. -Executive management gives away free rooms to themselves and their families but when another associate requests a comp room or a discounted rate on a non-black out date it is denied or the rate exceeds $200 when it's clearly listed as $79. -When you bring ALL OF THIS up to your superior false promises are made. -When you finally realized you've had it and put in your notice, and know for a fact that you have 100% given it your all during the past 5-6 years, the response is "okay well we're sorry to see you go and sorry to hear that we couldn't meet your expectations". -There are better options out there. Take the extra few weeks of being unemployed and search for something else, trust me it will be worth it.

Pros

Not applicable , the company’s bad reputation is not just rumors

Cons

This company has absolutely no flexibility for employee requests however you are expected to work 7 days a week , 15-18 hour days. Medical restrictions and disabilities don’t mean anything. No compromise on their part. No recognition, No compensation, No mental health support … They will burn you out, not care how their workplace tactics affect you or your work moving forward. They will then set you up to fail then use it as a reason to start the process of getting rid of you. No empathy for people. They refuse to accommodate requests for certain people but then others, no problem. Discrimination & Favoritism, I have never met a group with such evil intentions. All their claims about employees first are farthest from the truth. They only follow policies when it is convenient for them and depending on who it’s for. It’s all about who you know , not what you know Bottom line - the company is a total scam. The less you do the better. The excuses and practices for over compensating upper management is a joke.
