Pros

Intermountain Health is a standout workplace for administrative nurses, offering a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters professional growth and high-quality patient care. Here are some of the key advantages I see vs. previous job working here: 1. Clean and Modern Facilities: The hospital facilities are exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and equipped with up-to-date medical technology to ensure the best possible care for patients and the most efficient workflow for staff. 2. Cutting-Edge Practices: Intermountain stays at the forefront of medical advancements, utilizing evidence-based practices to continually improve patient outcomes and ensure staff are always working with the latest knowledge and tools. 3. Encouragement of Independent Thinking: Nurses and other caregivers are empowered to think critically and contribute their perspectives. Staff are encouraged to speak up when they notice opportunities for improvement or innovative solutions, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. 4. Support for New Ideas: Intermountain values the insights of its employees and actively supports the development and implementation of new ideas that enhance care delivery and operational excellence. 5. Good Staffing Levels (Budget is designed for great ratios, but doesnt mean all admin nurses use that part of their budget to maintain staffing levels. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully managed, ensuring that administrative nurses can focus on providing high-quality care without being overburdened. This contributes to both patient safety and staff satisfaction. 6. Supportive Leadership: Hospital administrators at Intermountain, particularly at IMC as of January 2025 and has been for the last year. From Medical Director of facility to the other operation managers and facility oversight are known for their approachability and commitment to supporting staff. Their proactive leadership style ensures that employees feel valued and heard (excluding the latest finance disaster they just hired from utah county). Overall, Intermountain Health provides an exceptional environment for administrative nurses who value collaboration, professional development, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Cons

Everyone is treated and paid as if they are the same nurse and know the exact same no matter where you work. RNs and other caregivers with advanced degrees and national board certifications are seen no different or at the same skill-level as a new grad they are paying $1 less to

Pros

There are many mission-driven caregivers who genuinely care about patients and want to provide high-quality behavioral health support. I appreciated the opportunity to work in an area connected to telehealth, crisis response, and access to care. The work itself can be meaningful, and I believe many employees are trying to do the right thing for patients and communities.

Cons

In my experience, the department culture was not psychologically safe. Feedback and performance concerns were not handled in a way that was clear, consistent, or supportive. I left feeling that the performance process was more punitive than developmental, and I did not feel meaningfully supported by leadership or HR during a difficult employment transition. The experience affected my emotional well-being and made me much more cautious about workplace culture and management practices.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. At Intermountain Health, we’re always working to keep communication open and meaningful across all levels of the organization. We’ve built in several ways for caregivers and leaders to stay connected and share feedback, like 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins during onboarding, regular team huddles, and quarterly meetings. These touchpoints are designed to create space for real conversations and collaboration. Additionally, we believe that a culture of well-being for all caregivers is foundational to our ability to deliver on our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. Caregivers are at the heart of what we do, which is why we have invested in and implemented several programs and resources to help caregivers enhance their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. It’s important that every caregiver feels secure, supported, and safe, both at home and at work. Your thoughts will be shared with our teams as we continue to learn and move forward together.
