Pros
Benefit package is good with good 401K company match. Basic OD education is decent for future use.
Cons
Non company practice offices run at a deficit with staffing! Where the company own optical offices have separate employees for the doctor side versus the sales and lab divisions, the independently owned offices staff do it all. The education of all positions is helpful, but what a confusing, overwhelming learning curve in the beginning. Also, a busy office run on a handful of employees does not operate efficiently in any form. Phones do not get answered, voicemails pile up, patients wait and employees are blamed when it is inadequate staffing. Constant video training with very little at work down time so it is somewhat expected you can do on your own time. DEI was emphasized so employees lacking responsibility and teamwork respect were not held accountable putting burden on the responsible team members. Upper management was not trained on the floor to deal with everyday occurrence. The DM and up are so conversation focused the daily operations are overlooked and in turn patients become an incidental.
