Pros

Hybrid opportunity, create your own schedule and work with populations you want

Cons

The salary they list are FALSE. That is if you see like 35 clients a week and bill for 90837 CPT code, which means 53+ min per session. Less time with the client = less money, even though many say 50 min is standard session time. If a client cancels with notice, no pay. Late notice/no-show, basically pennies or nothing if the client is Medicaid. In the initial phone interview they claim to pay so well so that you can afford time off because they don’t provide you with sick/pto/paid vacation. To qualify for full time status and earn health insurance you have to see approx 27 clients/week too. Payroll and benefits also screws up your paychecks and benefits. So make sure you check them frequently. They don’t rehire positions when support staff leave so less support.

Pros

Incredible place to work to build experience, receive supervision while supporting a diverse client population. Extremely flexible hours, opportunity to either work from home or in office with administrative staff. Truly caring, intentional, experienced regional leaders that are open to feedback and value their employees.

Cons

Working in mental health in a publicly held corporation has its conflicts of interest. No paid vacation time for FT employees which is counterintuitive to the work we do as trauma informed providers. No paid training. Profitability and bottom-line results for shareholders should not be reason to think of long term needs and burnout potential of providers.
