Pros
Good work exposure - Free snacks(biscuits, namkeen) at office
Cons
- The Liferay brand used to be the main draw for people joining Liferay India, but that's no longer the case. Currently, senior management is leaving as they've realized the company's processes are in disarray. People are treated very very badly by their managers. - There is never any company party or townhall kind of meetings. People work in silos without any motivation or appreciation. - Senior Leadership never connects with people to take any sort of genuine feedback. Even US Leadership never conducts any townhall meetings. Essentially you will never feel like you are working in a big brand called Liferay. - Rarely any team activity or any sort of things apart from your work. - People are basically considered a mere resource and you may feel like being used as a thing not as a human. People can be utilized for any type of work whatsoever. - No processes. You might get thrown into multiple projects at a time without your consent and you may end up working like mad. - Apply for leave and there is a good chance it may get rejected because always client deadlines are coming up. - Managers keep pushing people to work on weekends to deliver project. There is lot of micromanagement. - Mandatory to work overtime and almost all weekends without any compensation or comp-off. - Even Managers and Senior Managers keep working till 2 AM at nights and also on weekends. No work-life balance. - Lot of bias for people with longer tenure. - Appraisals are horrendous. Even after getting excellent feedbacks, don't expect good appraisal. - Unlimited work time, no cut-off. - No professionalism. - If you apply for holiday then you have to give KTs to other people as there is no backup for anyone. They make you feel like you are leaving the company and you need put extra efforts in providing KT. - Biggest pain is time filling mechanism. You have to put even minutes level detail for each day into Jira tasks. Sometimes manager makes you edit those time logs because total allotted project hours are burned so they make you put less hours in their project and more hours in random stuff, but everything needs to be justified on a weekly basis. This is so painful process. I don't have words for it. - They've begun deducting salary from the variable pay portion now. - To refine the company's profile, they've terminated numerous employees. - People of similar profiles have been part of the senior team for many years, which hasn't been beneficial for the company's growth. To sum up, the Liferay journey is concluding. Liferay GS was formed for internal profit, but it's failing. Recent quarterly losses are a major warning for existing employees—a wake-up call. It's time to choose the right company wisely.
