Pros
Co-workers are the best people I've ever worked with. They hire people on interpersonal skills. Relaxed work environment. Salary employees generally have autonomy, and are not micromanaged. They have one test LDL-P that is a cash cow. The test has the ability to really provide managed care of cardiovascular disease.
Cons
The downside is that with only one test, there isn't much incentive for outside laboratories to install a large NMR instrument. Competitors are increasing pressure, and doctors and insurance companies are transitioning to a cheaper alternative, APO-B. Senior management has spent resources on projects that were known to be worthless. Most hiring is of people who are connected to senior management form previous companies, promotions are also this way. Employee stock options are worthless even if you were there from the beginning. Promotions from within the company are few and far between.
