Pros
Good for a name on your resume, that's about it.
Cons
Sucking up will get you everywhere, where as hard work and dedication gets nowhere. I would know, because the majority of my team put in the bare minimum – coming in late/leaving early, working a 30-hour work weeks at best, "working" from home, constantly on social media or texting, doing sub-par work—I could go on and on. Meanwhile, those of us who were dedicated to our jobs weren't appreciated and often taken advantage of (the more work you do, the more they ask and expect) while others get away with doing very little. With yearly restructuring, most middle-management positions were eliminated, so your chances of career advancement are slim at entry-level and roles. Office culture is toxic and cliquey. "Friends" will turn on you in a heartbeat, if it means they will get something out of it. Management is zero help and will always support the managers over lower-level executives. HR was eliminated, so you don't have much—if any—support shall an issue arise. Senior management seems to get stuck in their ways and are unwilling to listen to new ideas and tend use the same stale ideas over and over.
