Pros
I enjoyed working at Markel. My boss was supportive. The people are smart, helpful, team-oriented, and kind. The work was surprisingly interesting. I would work here again if the Cons listed below were fixed.
Cons
The workload was extremely high and the pay was extremely low for the amount of work expected (and the years of experience that staff has). Any one person could be fired for not keeping up on their claims if management did a random audit. Staff are set up for failure. I have spoken to many professionals in the area where I worked and all agreed. Many have left Markel for these reasons. Prior to leaving Markel, numerous employees asked me (confidentially) to voice their concerns during my exit interview because they did not feel safe saying how they truly felt while still working at Markel.
