Pros

Employee Discount... That's really it.

Cons

Oh, where do I begin? First off, it's all about favorites. If you brown nose you get promoted. It's particularly obnoxious due to management itself being a train wreck. The organization and plan making skills in this company are nothing short of embarrassing. I mean really, it's to the point where it would be comical if it weren't completely cringe worthy. You will get paid 4 dollars an hour to do hours of manual labor. Once the store opens, you should expect to sell to make up for your slave wages, but instead, you're often sent to the back to do more of the manual labor that didn't get finished earlier in the morning. Instead of reliably scheduling mid-shifters to come in and finish the manual labor, you will be left to do it yourself most days. That's only the beginning of what seems to be habitual bad planning and poor micro managing. The vacuums don't work, the ladders in the warehouse are a danger and don't roll properly, we don't consistently receive commission stickers ( on the 1st and 15 of every month ), and we all get threatened to be sent back to General Sales ( bottom of the sales team) if our plan numbers slip a bit. Let's say you sell one thousand dollars and get 5 percent in plans for the day. You made no money, but you are praised to the sky and back because your plan numbers. If you sell Ten thousand dollars and under 3% in plans for the day, you are talked to. Even though you made the store more money, the only thing that matters is your ration of warranties to volume. It manages to make you feel bad for having a few big sales and earning a decent wage. The only way to be on top is to earn the lowest wage by keeping your plan percent up by having a lower sales volume. I have worked here over 2 years and have never been muttered to about the possibility for any kind of raise. And throughout your time at micro center you may find yourself doing things like Loss prevention, warehouse work, self stocker, inventory counter, tech support for ignorant customers with no intention of purchasing anything, and lots, lots more. For only 4 dollars an hour! All of these things require you to be off the sales floor. I could go on but I think you get the point. Every body here hates their job and sighs at the idea of spending time here.

Pros

Customer obsessed culture with a strong emphasis on expertise and service. Leadership is highly engaged, with consistent focus on coaching, accountability, and development through structured one-on-ones and daily execution rhythms. Clear expectations across sales, service, and operations create alignment on what success looks like. The organization provides exposure across multiple business functions, allowing leaders to build well rounded operational and commercial skill sets. High performance environment that rewards ownership, initiative, and results.

Cons

As a smaller, specialized retailer, organizational growth and upward mobility may take longer compared to larger big-box companies. Resources and infrastructure are still evolving in certain areas, which can require leaders to be more hands-on. High expectations and pace can create pressure during peak periods, requiring strong prioritization and resilience. Some systems and processes have a learning curve, particularly for leaders coming from larger, more standardized organizations.
