Pros

They really do care about training new nurses, and people work hard there. It is a good place to start out at.

Cons

Apparently higher up the echelons there are some things I definitely do not agree with, but this place has a monopoly health-care wise in the area and that tends to always cause some issues. Also, I find that many of the systems are a bit archaic, from the way you figure out which doctors to call, to the IV pumps they use, to the way you submit a time edit log (turning in a physical sheet of paper hand filled out to a person who then types it into a computer anyways).

Pros

Great nurses, resilient community, many leadership growth opportunities, large hospital with many specialties, the only level 1 trauma center in WNC.

Cons

The hours are very challenging. often 5am to 6pm M-F. No additional compensation for extra hours, nights, or on-call weekends. You must love the work, and have minimal need for work-life balance to enjoy working here.
