Pros

Strong Fellows Union Intramural collaboration remains strong despite top down meddling Compensation is above average for a postdoctoral research fellow

Cons

Hostile work environment. Extramural collaborations have been killed by the current administration. Travel freezes have stifled networking and career growth opportunities. DEI watchdog. Chronic instability has lead to institutional flight. e.g. contracted employees have been fired and rehired with no notice/justification; random procurement freezes killed or disrupted ongoing projects; health Insurance benefits were recently slashed unilaterally after open enrollment without contractual notice etc.

Pros

a lot of resources for your to explore and their Biowulf HPC system is very powerful and make my work much more efficient.

Cons

If you live not that close, the traffic to commute to the bethesda campus is heavy during rush hour.

Pros

Working with the some of the smartest scientists and clinicians in the world. So many learning opportunities. Kind patients. Allowed time to care for patients as there is no pressure of quotas by health insurance.

Cons

Nursing management can be verbally abusive with frequent retaliation and intimidation. As most older nurses have worked there for most of their career, they are dismissive of new perspectives and resistant to evidence-based practice.
