Pros
Most of the people who work at Nationwide are nice. There isn't a lot of arguing or yelling. There is a good amount of flexibility, in terms of you schedule and taking time off whenever you need to. There has been a huge investment in training and education - the Masters in Marketing degree program with OSU is great. People in Marketing have a lot of exposure to key decisions-makers within the company.
Cons
A lot of people don't seem to be very good at their jobs. Half of the people in Marketing don't have any marketing experience outside of Nationwide. They started in the call centers and saw Marketing as a way to get off the phones. Their skills are not a good match with their roles and responsibilities. And since it's nearly impossible to fire anyone at Nationwide, even people who aren't a good fit for their role will stick it out for years before finally be forced out or fired. This is a very consensus-driven culture where taking risks is not rewarded.
