Pros

Love the people I work with. Love the work at home.

Cons

Since they got rid of all our "in-house" processors and out-sourced the jobs there are soo many errors in the policies. Its easier most of the time for us underwriters to process our own stuff to save the useless back and forth questions that they should not be coming to underwriting to. The new CLT systems and how they want to have everything automated so they will need fewer underwriters in the future. Until they realize (to late) that agents and/or insureds are not always truthful when they submit policies or state what they actually do. When high claims start coming in on risks that should never have been written they will regret this new system. Its also horrible. The few times I have used it (I am still on a legacy system) makes me want to scream. Not user friendly to go thru files. If you want to find previous correspondence or certain applications it will take a long time opening each item. This new system, which we will all be on in the next couple of years, is the main reason for my looking at other jobs. The pay and health insurance are pretty poor compared to other companies too. Also, the amount of abbreviations used in this company is ridiculous.

Pros

-For the most part, the people you work with are good people. Made real lifelong friends and mentors. -As with all large companies, there are plenty of opportunities to advance and/or move around if something isn't a good fit. -One of the rare places still offering a pention

Cons

-Office politics promote plenty of people who don't deserve it and the teams happiness is highly dependent upon who you end up reporting to -WAY too much false urgency created by bad leaders -Big company means slow moving in all the stuff you want to go fast. Often times too many cooks in the kitchen
