Pros

The work itself is fun and the coworkers are great.

Cons

First of all, we do not get paid enough for the amount of work we do and the amount of stress we deal with on a daily basis. We work the longest hours, do physically demanding work that leaves us in pain, and produce insane numbers for a salary that can barely pay the bills. Besides the pay, the benefits are a joke. Yes, there is health coverage, but it's expensive. They also recently cut our vacation time in half. We now only receive two paid vacation days a year and three sick days. You can't receive more until you've worked for the company for THREE YEARS. There's also no 401K plan. That's the thing about this company: they focus on all the extra stuff and not the essentials. Somehow they can afford to throw extravagant parties, host frivolous office events, and support department outings ... but still not pay their employees living wage. Nectar also specializes in exploiting young, creative people. Many of the products, (and ALL of the seasonal products) are designed and created by production associates. We receive zero incentive, credit, or recognition for our work. When this was brought to the attention of the owner, he said that having the chance to create an idea is reward enough. It must be nice to wake up in a mansion that's paid for by other people's ideas! The production department itself is a mess. There is next to no communication and nothing is organized. Half of the time we are missing ingredients or a machine is broken. Management doesn't help. As people, they are nice enough. They just don't know what they're doing. They do not actually manage anyone. Instead, they write out a rough schedule and we are left to figure out the rest. They don't know most of the problems that happen in the room, they don't know where to find half of the stuff we use, and they don't even know how to make everything. There is also a huge issue with favoritism. Instead of issuing promotions/raises based upon performance or seniority, it seems to be judged on whether you're friends with management. If you decide to work in production, be sure to bring donuts for the managers and talk to them instead of working -- then you can get a raise before people who have been there longer and work 5x harder! There is also some serious high school drama within production. Management gets upset and blames the associates, but they start half of the rumors and talk about their employees to other employees. They also are very passive-aggressive with their punishments. If you do something "wrong", you may get talked to ... or you may get assigned some horrible task for weeks straight or not be allowed to do the more enjoyable jobs. Overall, this is a very unprofessional work environment. Everything looks nice and pretty on the outside, but it's total insanity once you're inside.
