Nordstrom needs to re-envision their culture. The place runs on petty politics and backstabbing even at the bottom IC level. Their rule, "Use good judgement" has morphed into "Be judgemental", and as such it's normal for teams and managers to smack talk other people within the company. As an engineer, the last thing I want to deal with is politics and hateful gossip, but at Nordstrom, it's unavoidable. There's lots of opportunities for technical innovation, but I've witnessed first hand to the engineers which innovate. Other teams trash talk their solution and may even try and steal credit for it while senior leadership has no idea what is going on. Leadership remains out of touch due to constant churn. Almost all of the quality employees in technology leave within 2 years to better opportunities (this is Seattle after all).
Stay away from this place unless you want to be lazy or try out a new job which you aren't really qualified for (the interviews are a joke).
