Pros

“Unlimited pto” if your manager actually complies with policy. Nothing else.

Cons

Company facade of being a progressive e-commerce styling service is a joke. All product education and training is centered around quotas and inventory Nordstrom wants pushed. No actual interest in serving clients needs for a cohesive wardrobe, only an expensive one. “Unlimited PTO” policy is on a “manager discretion” basis, so don’t actually plan trips because the promise of getting the time off despite good performance isn’t guaranteed. Managers adopt an “Us vs. Them mentality” management style and use emotional manipulation and threats of bi-weekly performance reviews that can land your job in jeopardy despite no leads and inconsistent inventory being fed to stylist. “strongly encouraged” to self source since Marketing can’t purchase leads besides Snapchat teens. The pay is pitiful, after taxes you’re barely clearing 30k as a national stylist- a salary unlivable in Dallas w/o a second job, and trust me, most stylists do. Full time sales position with quotas and performance based schedules WITHOUT commission at 30k annually is a lose-lose employment situation for national stylists at Trunk Club. Several complaints have Been filed to OSHA due to lack of being able to comply with minimum work requirements for functioning bathrooms-gross! Internally, many complaints have been filed with HR for racists incidents between Managers and employees. In February 2018, pay was restructured and many employees took an hourly wage pay cut, something executives claim “wasn’t their intention”. A “bonus for meeting quota” is taxed 1 1/2 times more than hourly wages, and is entirely dependent on leads and inventory, which both are out of stylist control. Based on my experiences, I would never recommend a friend/family member to work for this company. Ever.

I'm sorry you had this experience working on my team. As a leader, this is not the type of environment I want for my employees working at Trunk Club. Please know that I take this very seriously and that we're working hard to change the culture. I want Trunk Club to be a place where people can have a great career and enjoy their work each day. If you have any other feedback or want to discuss further, here's my personal email address, molly@trunkclub.com. I'm here to listen and take the needed steps to get better.

Pros

Decent base pay, somewhat autonomous, great tip potential.

Cons

The company has changed for the worse since COVID. When I came back the mood of the entire store had shifted. Gone were the days of comradery, customer focus, and taking pride in a job well done. In its place there is a new culture of cutthroat sales, a severe decline in customer focus, and worst of all a new focus on profit over customer satisfaction. When I was told that the amount the store charged for a shoe shine was not enough to do the best job I could for a customer I knew things had gone downhill for the company. Not to mention I watch a manager prey on a mentally disabled person in order to secure a sale, when the person could not understand what was being offered. Sad that such a once great company is now just another greed ridden corporation.
