Pros
Opportunities are vast - the are lots of projects and doing multiple task is common. Overtime work is a must (on average people work 10hours a day + 1 hour lunch). Meritocracy - Certification doesn't count. We have PhDs that are contract staff for a few years, and had to work under normal degree holder. Even if you are new engineer, you can do project leader work if you are capable. Flexible working hours. You can choose to start work at 7am and leave at 5-6pm or start at 10am and leave at 7-8pm.
Cons
Lack of career development - HR consists of only 1 person doing payroll. There is no career planning. Recruitment is by engineers themselves. HR does not handle employee job satisfaction nor performance evaluation. Easily replaceable by new engineers that have more energy. Pay increment for good performers is around 4% and for average performer is around 2%. We are panasonic in name only. Functions like a small outsource company. Not under control of panasonic asia pacific.
