Depends on the teams - Senior Software Developer Paycom Employee Review

Pros

Great for starting your career. If you're lucky, you won't be forced out of the company depending on the company politics/priorities. Employee stock purchase has a 15% discount. Started with a great team, then transitioned to a team where micromanagement/overtime was the norm.

Cons

Depends on the teams. You could end up in a team with autonomy or a team that's highly micromanaged with mandatory overtime. Paycom has been doing layoffs recently over the past couple of years. Software developers are increasingly seen as feature-pushing bug-squashing work peons. There's been management missteps along the way, the people lower on the corporate hierarchy always pay for those mistakes. Compensation is somewhat on the low side. PTO has been reduced over the years.

At Paycom, we strive to maintain a culture of high performance, support and respect across all departments. We’re proud of our award-winning benefits, designed to support employee well-being and success, and we’re committed to maintaining them so long as they align with our organization's overall vision. We'd like to note that there are some inaccuracies in your review - Paycom has not experienced layoffs, and paid time off has not been reduced. While we understand that different teams may have unique goals and objectives, our expectations for teamwork, collaboration and excellence remain consistent throughout the organization. Pros

The work we do is challenging but is satisfying. $4 dollar lunches are great and I enjoy the people and managers I work with. We have gone through changes, but the changes are worth it and the tools we are provided keep us successful. The salary is great and top level, highly recommend working here if you love a challenge. I promise you’ll never be bored.

Cons

The workload and hours can be heavy at times, but the long-term gratification is worth it. Paycom is about long-term investment, and it requires patience and perseverance but it’s worth it, if you are strong enough.

Pros

* Fast learning and professional skill growth. * Great people and strong teams. * Recognized name in the OKC community. * Valuable experience that strengthens future career opportunities, especially in Tech.

Cons

Over the past couple of years, career growth has felt extremely limited. Promotions and meaningful raises have become increasingly rare, and many employees believe these decisions are being driven from the very top. Layoffs and terminations have also become common, creating a constant sense of uncertainty. High performers often take on high-visibility projects with aggressive timelines and limited support. The expectations are unrealistic, and even successful delivery doesn’t usually lead to recognition or advancement. Leadership tends to make decisions very late, creating unnecessary urgency and forcing teams into last-minute scrambles. Benefits have declined, opportunities for advancement have become scarce, and overall morale has suffered significantly. There are talented people here and it can be a good place to gain experience, but I would view it primarily as a stepping stone rather than a long-term destination.
