Good place to start your career. More work hard, less play hard. - Investment Banking Analyst Piper Sandler Employee Review

Pros

Experience. Piper gives analysts lots of responsibility (ie additional work) which gives you a lot to speak to when it comes to interviewing elsewhere. This makes it sound not good, but really, analyst programs are built around analysts moving on to VC/PE so it does prepare you well for those opportunities.

Cons

Limited respect for your time, impossible to have a personal life, not necessarily as well regarded as bulge banks, but competes well in the middle-market.

Pros

It's nearly impossible to get fired. After many years, the IT department has hired a diverse team. Coworkers were intelligent and ethical.

Cons

Unusual that, until after Covid, the IT department was about 95% Caucasian, but now the diversity seems to be due to the ability to lower salaries, and worsen work/life balance. Management will only promote yes-people, or hire from the outside. It's akin to working in IT in 1990s, there is little process or structure. Laptops weren't given to IT until after Covid (yes you read that right), and when they were handed out, they were the used laptops from revenue generating departments that had been upgraded. It was a very chaotic environment.
