Pros

-Technology is incredible, especially compared to other banks. - Lots of opportunities to move up & within the bank, if you know how to properly market yourself -Biggest bank, more variety of roles to move into -More chances to network with VPs because of many varying roles within each location -If with good advisor, great opportunity to make lots of money and bonuses -More flexibility in your day in the sense it’s not a rigid retail role -Learn lots of investing and wealth -Can take your career and interests anywhere within hour advisor team, whether it’s financial planning, portfolio planning, investment research, marketing, admin -Great benefits, wellness plans for athletic clothing, sports equipment etc. -Great mental health coverage

Cons

-Have to like the rigidity of the bank -Pay is low in Dominion Securities, especially if your Advisor doesn’t pay you more -Have to follow strict checklist to get bonus: some metrics aren’t even applicable to associates. A lot of emphasis on being social outside of business hours -Opportunity to move within the team can be hindered by advisor if they don’t require certain positions - could be stuck doing only administrative work. Make sure to ask advisor what their expectations are for the team -income can be hindered if advisor isn’t actively prospecting clients, make sure they are still building their book -It’s a bank, if you’re a go with the flow, relaxed person, can feel like it’s too structured at times -You do need to deal with a decent amount of administrative work, at least for the first while

Pros

Stable work life balance. The culture is really great, very easy to work with complex management and managers. Willing to help you grow and learn with clients

Cons

Not a lot of room for growth unless you come in the door with that expectation. It can be very easy to get stuck in this role as your pay slowly increases and the job title mostly stays the same. Associate promotions and raises are rarely given and take a lot of coercion to get.
