Pros

Talented staff with challenging projects.

Cons

Upward mobility in certain area is nonexistent Merit increases are not based on performance and are based on stock performance. Layoffs to “fix” flawed development process RealPage has many talented people working for the company. However, it was recently made abundantly clear that they value profit over people when senior management clearly states that this years layoffs are due to not meeting shareholder expectations. The company over hires instead and throws money and head count rather than solutions at a problem then proceeds to make cuts when they can’t meet shareholder profit expectations. The company has 80 or more products, most of which are redundant and poorly executed.

Thank you for your post. I'm not sure why anyone would say this year's layoffs are tied to shareholder expectations. (That would be sad if someone actually said that) Our stock is trading at an all time high. When we do make changes, its based on performance, synergies or sometimes a change in direction. Your observation that we over hire headcount to throw at opportunities is something that is being deeply explored as we all want large efficient positions. We value our India developers as there are many talented people on the team. We do want to have great products as no one wins if the products do not meet expectations. I wish you well in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Kurt Twining

Pros

Professionalism means building a workplace where fairness, merit, and respect matter more than favoritism and office politics.

Cons

RealPage may be a good company on the surface, but working in RUM software development was an absolute nightmare. From what I saw, promotions went only to white employees, favoritism ran the team, and toxic office politics mattered more than skill, fairness, or basic professionalism. The Senior Director was shockingly unqualified and created an environment where favorites were protected while capable people were pushed aside. I’m relieved my time there is over. What I still don’t understand is why RealPage allows such a hostile culture to exist, a culture where bad leadership thrives, politics beat merit, and the worst people are the ones rewarded.
