Pros

Its been almost 2 years I joined High Performing Organization RP, from the time of hiring till I on board, the support they gave to me, friendly calls I received from hiring team, inviting me to Mid-Year party, haven’t seen any Organization giving value to their upcoming employees made me to not look for any other options. I’m glad that I never regretted to look back, as my journey went smooth, friendly teams, peers & co associates. I got multiple opportunities to prove my-self, out of my interest was part of Ambassador team and became a core part of team and lead many activities where shared ideas are implemented, mentored new hires, sharing Gratitude, showering our values thru (LOVE – Living Our Values Everyday), initiated Green activities, drove Culture mindset & many more. There is always a learning atmosphere, positive attitude, visibility and reachable Senior Leadership to openly discuss which motivates me to be part of this family, COVID was not a barrier to reach any one whom we wanted to, in fact it made us more close by having more engaged activities, Covid insurance to support employees and their families, WFH kits, doctor on calls to ease the stress we are undergoing during this Pandemic, 18 specialized doctors available just a call away to treat, surprised goodies at door step, Grand Mid-Year party, virtual competitions like HackFromHome a platform to showcase technical capabilities, Employees organizing Townhalls, enabling employees with plethora of trainings to upskill soft skills, technical skills, mentoring leaders & future aspirants. Had a blast at virtual Family day with more fun and surprised chief guests, with great gesture of Rewards & Recognitions which made our day more nostalgic with no compromise anywhere thanks to Meraki team for making sure to entertain everyone. I see it has Diversified & Inclusive environment & created a Program ‘Mommy Returns’ to welcome Women employees from their Maternity Leave by Welcome Gift, easing their return back smoothly by tagging with a buddy to help them ease to settle down. Felt heartwarming as we adopted 2 schools and makeover them with no less than corporate schools, supporting 31 girls for their further education, felicitating super heroes, thanks to CSR team ..my god the list goes on….. MD & Senior HR reaching each and every employee thru Jump the Queue sessions by going above and beyond awestucked me as they were giving/taking feedback & addressing accordingly, breaking stereotypes hence undoubtably it bagged many accolades a Great Place to Work Certified for twice in a row & Best Places to work for Women, Branded by Telangana Govt, Kincentric, Forbes……and counting. Thankyou RPI, my team, managers, management for everything.

Pros

Good engineering tooling. Talented engineers and teammates. Flexible remote work.

Cons

I ran one of RealPage's larger engineering product teams for three years, hiring and developing more than half of the engineering managers and engineers on my organization. I believed I was building something that mattered. Instead of promoting the person already doing the work, leadership hired a lateral engineering manager alongside me. Over time, responsibility stayed with me while authority and support shifted elsewhere. I became the person expected to absorb every problem. My first manager used me to fill every gap instead of developing me. I was expected to handle support, incident response, production releases, coding, architecture, project management, and people management—all at the same time. My second manager sidelined me, criticized me, and focused on replacing me instead of developing me. I was once told I was "lucky to be useful, or I wouldn't still be here." That statement summed up the culture. Leadership expected constant availability while frequently being unavailable themselves. When leadership was out, I was expected to cover. I spent over a year supporting both U.S. and India time zones, making true time off nearly impossible. RealPage has incredibly talented people, but talented employees cannot overcome a culture where managers are consumed instead of developed. I loved building teams. I just wish the company had valued the people who built them.

Thank you for sharing such a candid and detailed account of your experience. We're glad the engineering tools, talent, and flexibility of remote work stood out positively, and we take seriously what you've described about being stretched across responsibilities without matching authority or support. No manager should feel they have to absorb everything alone, and your point about developing managers rather than overloading them is well taken. We'd welcome the chance to understand your experience further—please consider reaching out to your HRBP so we can address this directly. Thank you for the years you have invested in building your team.
