Pros
SAGE offers world-class health benefits and an organizational culture that prides itself on collegiality and friendliness. Day to day life is pretty good as long as you don't ask questions, keep your head down, and don't challenge authority.
Cons
Too many useless meetings and committees. Very bad retirement plan. The company is far too bureaucratic for a company of its relatively small size. The Senior Management Group (SMG) is paranoid and isolated and doesn't really know what's going on within the company. The organizational culture rewards sugar-coating of facts and is a cult of personality around a few key executives, some of whom have no grasp on the publishing industry outside SAGE. Political operatives and sycophants are rewarded more frequently than are talented overachievers. The office environment needs to show some pulse; most employed in the cubicle farms seem to be quietly miserable.
