Pros
Training that HQ offers. It is very good and detailed about customer service, food handling, problem solving, etc. The company philosophy is high quality and if the company were actually run the way training teaches employees it is to run, it would be a very high-quality business to work for.
Cons
Quality of employees. Very low and full of people (from the top on down) that give Sam's a bad name. Management and supervisors did not follow trainings. They abused their positions playing favorites and abusing those they didn't personally like. Holding some people up to strict adherence of rules, while letting others flaunt the rules with impunity. Favorites (not best at job) getting best schedules, hours, promotions, positions, etc. It isn't what you do and how well you do your job or follow the training, it is who you know and are connected to. It is how well you flatter those in charge rather than how well you do your job. I was shocked to see those lazy, slothful, mouthy, trouble-causing employees get promoted over hardworking, conscientious employees. There is too much trading in gossip that shapes the opinions of those in management rather than using their eyes and looking at the stats to make a proper determination of employment advancement. Very shocking to see gossipy, slow, and lazy employees advance over folks with some pep in their step. Management/supervisors at Sam;s in Lincoln, NE are worthless and full of themselves. The whole group needed to be written up, but by who??? No one. They're it. Ugh. No wonder they can't keep good employees.
