Pros

This is an innovative company at the heart of changing the way we view energy generation and consumption. In a world where society is prepared to let someone else fix the problem, the Rive Brothers have stepped up to be true leaders of change. It’s not an easy thing to do, and obstacles are thrown down at every turn. However, the company brings a purpose to your day – you know that everyone is working together to change the world for generations to come. I am grateful to work with super smart, humble, dedicated people in a company that has a strong values-driven culture. Every day is interesting, challenging, and purposeful.

Cons

If SolarCity is to change the world, then it must aggressively adapt to challenges (and there are many). This means that your work day is demanding. The company is not perfect. Sometimes things go wrong, and good people work hard to make it right. It is up to every person to take responsibility, use initiative, ask questions, and work things out. There is no hand holding here - it is not the right place for those without resilience and a strong work ethic. Not everyone copes with the intense pace, work volume, and rapid change.

Pros

Just to quantify my review a bit, I am within the top 10% of inside sales reps within our 12,000 person company. It is a great place to work and people doing well ARE able to make good money here. The executive team ALWAYS has a platform for reps to help make SolarCity a better place every quarter. They involve the top 20 reps each quarter in various ways to help their peers through an interactive group called Team Elite. Executives, VP's, Directors, and Managers are always willing to help and go to bat when there are issues with things that need to be fixed. The direction of the company is consistent and although the company is large, decision makers work as hard as possible to steer the big ship quickly when necessary.

Cons

Knee jerk reactions with decision making at a director level create issues from time to time. Culture has had its ups and downs due to HUGE growth last year and subsequent high attrition rates.
