Pros

Flexibility, amazing training, therapist to therapist support, ability to work from anywhere, everything you need at your fingertips to create an online practice. Allows me a better work/life balance, and an amazing culture of forward thinking therapists, staff and management.

Cons

There is a learning curve, Talkspace provides free training to therapists to learn best practices for online therapy. One must have an interest in thinking outside the traditional face to face therapy box.

Pros

It was nice having the flexibility and comfort of working at home. I also appreciated that they offered free monthly continuing education credit (CE) courses.

Cons

Unfortunately, they operate as a typical corporate business, prioritizing their own profit and success over the treatment of their providers and clients; especially when compared to the closeness and community you would get being at a smaller company or private practice instead. Inability to choose clients or manage your own caseload; an automatic “matching” technology system used, lack of autonomy. There is a lack of universal standards or ethics being practiced and upheld by providers; sometimes the quality of care you receive as a client truly depends on the provider you have; allegations of providers using AI. There is little transparency, guidance, or clear communication from leadership; the company will put themselves first, and sometimes will have unrealistic expectations of providers, leading to stress and workplace anxiety.
