Pros
The staff (other than executive management) is highly professional and hard working. Water Planning, financing and water science along with collection and dissemination are key programs. Many smart people who care about the future of Texas work here.
Cons
Stifling and repressive environment of fear and retribution. Executive management is either from TCEQ or the Governors Office with little if any institutional knowledge of the agency or its programs. They are spoiled, self-serving and entitled; basically the opposite of public servants. The demands they place on staff are entirely unreasonable and stressful. It would be funny except that the opportunity to invoke their anger and retribution lurks at every turn. If you don't march in lock step you're either fired or forced out.
