Pros
The people are the best part of SAVO. I'm not sure why many of them stay. I'm glad that many of them are here. They make the place tolerable. They are flexible with working schedules for family and medical issues. The insurance is very good and covers a lot of the expenses. They feed us free and well.
Cons
The lack of diversity is appalling. There is only one (male) director of color. All of the other men of color (in various positions) have been laid off. The deserving women of color are overlooked consistently for promotion. There are no females of color at the director level. But we are guessing that since they are a private, they do feel the need or urgency to promote anyone of color at the company. HR caters to upper management only. The EVP makes promises and rarely follows through. She does not hold upper management accountable for completing reviews or promotions or making career paths for promotions. It is now worse with Agile and movement from place to place manager to manager and no recognition of accomplishments or contributions to the company’s success. Also HR offers lower salaries with the promise of great bonuses. DO NOT TAKE A CUT IN PAY AS YOUR SALARY WILL NEVER RECOVER!!! Many of us still are making what we made five years ago! More broken promises from the QA and HR departments in 2015. They were promised six weeks to learn automated testing. They were laid off after only three weeks. We are forced to learn on the fly or just die. They begin with good intentions, but, of course, they fall to the wayside and nothing is completed and the employee is ignored.
