Pros

They've managed to assemble some decent developers. Learned a lot, working in modern technologies.

Cons

They've built a "neat" product that no one needs. Constantly pivoting to try to find some industry that will actually buy the product. In the process lying to customers about capabilities, and reliability of service. Product constantly churning on half-baked feature ideas that never move the needle.

Pros

Support remote work, driven but cool culture, some wicked smart and passion people.

Cons

Like any growing company, there's always more stuff to do than time, money or people to do it all.

Pros

I've been around TrackVia for over a decade and was, at one point, their loudest online advocate and supporter of the mission. This culminated to an opportunity to work inside the company for a few years on the revenue, engineering, and business development fronts. I got a deep look behind the curtain at a company I supported unconditionally - a pro and a con.

Cons

TrackVia has been on a negative trajectory for a while & only survived this long due to aggressive contractual renewals and data lock-in. The core technology is ancient and unmaintainable; it's no secret that the product is far behind its competitors' on innovation and robustness. Engineering is scared to make changes because the platform is that unstable and they laid off everyone who understood how it works at a root level. That's a bit of a problem for a software company, don't you think? New features are rare and half baked, which makes the hard product uncompetitive. There are literally thousands of open tickets in the development queue which have been stale for years. Simple customer requests that would have taken five minutes have been unfulfilled for almost a decade. Inventing and navigating bureaucracy is the name of the game at TrackVia (a company with only ~50 employees, insane). All public claims surrounding AI are erroneous - do not be fooled. The culture is generally negative & is becoming more toxic by the day. Even prior to the recent acquisition, many inside the company prefer the status quo and are openly hostile towards those who raise concerns, propose improvements, or do anything except sit back and collect a less-than-average paycheck. Some exceptions do exist - there are individual contributors that take pride in their work and strive for greatness, but they're rapidly being pushed out by Bow River Capital to favor the sycophantic "yes men" who bow down to a new group of antisocial c-suite leaders and directors. BRC's GP has a personal vendetta against the company due to a "past incident" that was swept under the rug. His name was aggressively scrubbed from everything involving TrackVia. This company was only purchased by BRC to fulfill the GP's revenge fantasy before his retirement. There is no long-term future here. It is so evident that they are asset stripping this company and funneling all free cashflow to their friends and PE management fees. We all know how that goes. If you want to work 60+ hours a week (in office), and deal with a toxic private equity firm draining the bank account and operating on pure emotion, this is the place for you.
