Pros
Benefits. Health coverage, fully paid maternity and paternity leave, retirement (although, I will say that this was moving to a much less attractive pension plan right around when I decided to leave in 2021, so I'm not sure how stellar the retirement plans are...I know people weren't happy about it), PTO, education assistance.
Cons
Zero opportunities for growth, impossible to get off the phones (I was stuck in call center my entire 7-year tenure, in which time I obtained my MBA, held top sales metrics, etc.... I could not get am opportunity in another department), below average pay, MICROMANAGEMNT, culture of fear, and an overall dreadful place to work. I've been working in a different industry with a COMPLETELY different work environment and double the pay, and I still struggle with finding myself anxious at work for no reason because USAA always kept us on edge. I was afraid to quit a steady job, even though I had been dying inside for years. I AM SO GLAD I finally grew the balls to quit, because everything in my career and personal life has improved. I'm disgusted with how much of my confidence I allowed a company to take away from me, but lesson learned.
