Pros
Salary/Hourly + Benefits are better than most other places. Steady work and room to advance upward. Tuition reimbursement for schooling, internal training in person/online and Continuous Improvement courses available to all employees. If an opening is available there are 6 bus garages, 2 light rail depots, 1 commuter rail depot and Fleet Headquarters give you the ability to choose where along the Wasatch front you can travel to for work. UTA employs around 3,000 people across multiple Utah counties.
Cons
Union (Bargaining Unit) side - Entry level employees start on swing/graveyard shift due to seniority status. This however can be a plus if your married and work opposite shifts while trying to care for pre-elementary children. Supervisory side - There are shifts, but in the people management side you can be available at all hours, but shifts can either be flexible or rotate based on your job title. Resolving internal conflicts can be the worst of the responsibilities. Admin side- There are expectations to be present for your shift, but really, what 8 hour job doesn't include that?
