It’s fraudulent to have a mission statement you do not follow... - Retirement Specialist Vanguard Employee Review

Pros

I guess the benefits you MAY be offered but the cons significantly outweigh the pros

Cons

Sadly the company has become the definition of corporate greed. Vanguard may say their mission is to give investors the best chance for investment success, but in the call centers the mission is to get someone off the phone ASAP and move onto the next....similar concept on how they treat their employees. They say each person is valuable, but really, to Vanguard, you ARE replaceable. I came to Vanguard because I strongly agreed with the mission statement, but it is not that company anymore and there is not a person I will recommend this company to.... not worth being treated like you’re the crap stuck to upper managements’ shoes (because while more money is being allotted to them, the average employee salary is not something a person can functionally live off of)

Large firm so great to get exposure to different groups.

Cons

Nothing that comes to mind, great place to start and end career.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
