Pros

Vanguard jobs a very secure, you don't have to worry about being laid off. Crew are given many opportunities and direct coaching before possible action. The benefits are great, especially retirement. Career development is great especially for college graduates. There are many great job at the entry level and early career that enable crew especially those in PA to move around and gain different types of experiences.

Cons

Tenure is VERY long here and well respected, this means that advancement beyond early career (10+ years) can be very slow. You will be paid for your work but you will not get rich here. Consensus decision making at all levels makes decisions slow and it can be frustrating trying to please all stakeholders when trying to implement change.

Pros

Awesome coworkers for young professionals. Paid licensing for a few months.

Cons

Micromanagement is out of control. Incompetent team leaders who are obsessed with power and metrics. Back to back calls, limited support, and nearly impossible effective communication between departments. Zero time to cultivate culture because you are taking calls every second of the day except for 30min/1hr lunch and two 15 minute breaks. You’re locked into your role for over a year (apprenticeship for around 60 days, then a year after promotion to associate) and your team leaders will not approve internal applications unless you are “eligible”.
