Pros
- The people are absolutely phenomenal. They are dedicated, kind, and passionate about all things WEBTOON. Everyone from operations to editors to marketing cares deeply about the company and the people who make up their teams. - You learn a lot, fast because you're thrown into the fire immediately.
Cons
- Poor/non-competive wage. HR claims the compensation is above the average for most roles when, in fact, it is far below it. HR does everything in their power to gaslight, belittle, and quiet any dissenting opinions. When discussing wage, you are guaranteed to never actual talk about what you deserve to make and more likely to be talked in circles until you give up. - Long, unconventional hours. You must work from 10AM to 7PM and, in my role, that includes weekends because so much of the work is manual and the higher-ups don't invest in long term solutions to automate tedious tasks. - No upward or cross movement. In my role, there is no plan for growth. You can not get promoted and you are expected to stay in your role. If you express interest in moving to a different team, you can apply and you will be told that they don't discourage movement within the company, but they will never get back to you on your application and will act as if you never applied. - Poor benefits. - It's a small company that scaled up too fast and didn't consider it's workforce when doing it. As a result, every employee did the job of multiple positions and because the employees are hyper-compentent, they usually didn't back-fill the roles of those that quit, resulting in over worked people who were doing the jobs of 4-8. - Poor on-boarding with few responsibilities actually laid out.
