Pros
Only pros I can think of is that they have new buildings in san bruno and sunnyvale so you are not sitting in bad smelling and moldy offices like they do in Bentonville. Other than this, since they are desperate for talent and have a very bad reputation in Bay Area for the mediocre quality of their senior leadership, they tend to pay quite a bit to hire anyone. So maybe join them with a higher salary and then instantly start looking for your next gig which you can take in one year once you earn your sign on bonus. Other than this it is a laughable circus run by jokers
Cons
Quality of senior leadership bench is exceptionally poor. Most of the good talent from mid executive to executive levels including from Kosmix (now walmart labs) is already gone further concentrating the pool of mediocrity. Instances of many senior leaders making a fool out of themselves in meetings as they do not really know much about ecommerce or innovation in retail. Lot of empty noise about competing with Amazon and Alibaba while basic talent in many functions is deplorable. I found it to be the biggest collection of underperformers ever seen with virtually every single project years behind schedule with very poor quality code. Some of the projects they will launch wont even matter now as the time of them have already gone by. If this is your idea of innovative and inspiring workplace then go ahead and join. Within first week you will regret your choice and then wait 51 more weeks to earn your signing bonus and get out. Most of the folks do the same. Lots of other game of thrones like drama goes on as incompetent leaders try to prolong their survival by always blaming someone or something else. Look up linked in profile of leaders whose group you might join and you will be shocked at their inexperience versus titles. Most negotiated their way in at those ranks from similar positions in small, inconsequential companies else they cannot even become Directors from inside working their way up. Many are quite dishonest too in their dealings. Do your research first and talk to at least a dozen insiders first before you join as some of the rosy reviews you read here might actually be posted by recruiters or some of the senior leaders themselves to save their face as they are quite dishonest in their dealings or talk to the people in the valley and ex Walmart folks to hear the real version
