Pros
Good Pay- competitive or better than industry average. Good Benefits- better than most in industry. For young, eager to please investment professionals looking to earn more than what the industry will pay, willing to work long hours/weekends.
Cons
Competitive environment. IT and support positions need to do “what it takes” to support the investment pros- they expect it. Teamwork and sharing is not encouraged here- it’s CYA, do your job, watch what you say and don’t ask questions. The only “sharing” is at the morning meetings- and you won’t find any support staff contributing there. This is evidenced in the workspace- most everyone has a private office- the building space is designed against teamwork and sharing. Don’t expect any quality of life/family/work balance. When you join, this IS your life. Don’t expect to make change or have a “positive” impact- you do it the Wellington way. If you are considering a job- don’t get fooled by all the wining and dining during the interviews. Ask tough questions and make sure you know what you are signing up for. The happiest people there are the ones who don't miss life because they are making the money. If you’ve been a part of a technical staff that is team oriented, collaborative and innovative- you won’t find it here.
