Leadership structure and decision-making often feel inconsistent and poorly communicated. There were periods where the company announced layoffs while simultaneously promoting individuals into higher-level titles or creating new leadership roles with no real explanation as to why. The organizational direction frequently changed, and processes would be implemented and then quickly replaced or abandoned. In my case, I was asked to fully document procedures and policies for my role, only to be laid off the same day those materials were completed due to what was described as “restructuring.” Shortly afterward, the responsibilities appeared to be redistributed into newly created senior-level roles.
