Pros
Working at YouSolar as a marketer is definitely a unique experience. The team and CEO are super ambitious, and you can feel that they’re really passionate about the product. They’re doing some really cutting-edge stuff in the solar industry, and as someone who cares about sustainability, it felt great to work on something that’s actually making a difference. There's space to bring in your own ideas, especially in marketing. (Engineering is a bit ifferent) I had the freedom to try different strategies, and they were pretty open to experimentation, which I really appreciated. There's also a sense of flexibility – if you’re proactive, you can really carve out your role and make it your own.
Cons
On the flip side, the company’s still growing, so sometimes it felt like there was a lack of structure. Things could get a little chaotic, especially with priorities shifting quickly. It’s a small team, which is cool because you get to wear a lot of hats, but that also means resources can be stretched thin, and you might find yourself juggling more than expected. Another thing is that communication across different teams could definitely improve. There were times when I felt a bit out of the loop, especially when product changes were happening fast, which made it tricky to align the marketing message.
