Pros

I worked here for a couple of years as a Project Manager. - The management and senior staff can offer a lot of working knowledge to younger workers. I learned a lot at wintransation. - Employees manage their own projects and set their own timelines to followup. - Quiet office with little distraction. - Working in the translation industry offers exposure to many different cultures of the world. The work was very interesting to me. - Good location with access to restaurants and beautiful scenery for lunchtime walks. - Management showed appreciation by occasionally taking staff to lunch.

Cons

- When starting off new it was difficult to learn how things 'should' be done. - Due to the nature of the business, checking on projects during off hours is needed. This is because translators live around the world in different time zones. - At times things are VERY busy and it requires a certain type of person to be able to handle the stress and keep up with the demand. It is not for everyone. - Work culture needs improvement. At times management and other staff seem impersonal.

Pros

The management tries to be understanding and work with employees towards a solution, once they're made aware of problems. Fun events that help foster a good relationship between employees.

Cons

Founder & CEO of the company is horrible. Makes racist comments. Doesn't want to pay employees fair wages. Doesn't want to invest money into much needed improvements for the company. Puts too much work on employees shoulders and expects them to handle it all without working overtime. Doesn't adhere to labour laws re: lunch breaks, overtime, travel for work. Huge turnover rate for employees and the owner acts like it's something to be proud of. Tries to get employees to be her personal assistant on top of their own responsibilities. She gets passive-aggressively hostile towards you when you try to bring up an important issue.

As owner of Wintranslation I was most disappointed to read this review of my company. Our culture has always been to foster communication and a great working experience for each of our employees which we certainly aim to achieve. Unfortunately, if an employee does not communicate dissatisfaction, we cannot work together to address any dissatisfaction. Like any relationship, even professional ones require two-way communication. Although I do not feel the need to address or defend any of the personal remarks in this social media forum, being unfounded, I would like to take this brief opportunity to address the professionalism of our environment and to warmly welcome any individuals to feel open enough to dialogue on any of these remarks with me directly on a one-on-one basis should they wish to join our organization. In closing, we do recognize each and every employee’s feedback as valuable, including the positive as well as constructive or even negative.

Pros

- Peaceful work environment and respectful colleagues. - I was able to work at my own pace. - I acquired important office experience. - Employer was flexible about my work hours. - I accepted a part-time, paid position within the company following the completion of my practicum. - Sometimes the owner brings her puppy into the office for some complimentary pet therapy for everyone!

Cons

- While I had autonomy in the office, I rarely received feedback or revision on my work. - As an intern, I didn't always know what to work on next. A quick fix would be to ask coworkers if they need help.
