Diversity & Colleagues Nice People

Cons

Very bad pay - Pay is extremely low for expected workload. (They say it is competitive but pay certain staff members minimum wage) Employee Turnover is high - nobody wants to work for a low wage and high stress Management favouritism - if you don’t work on big clients you will not get recognised Unrealistic expectations Managers have shouted at junior members of staff Have decided to be like other firms rather than be unique and competitive. More concerned about social committee than ensuring employees are happy. Indoctrinating American culture to uk work environment which will not work. Reduced benefits offered previously in order to save costs and benefit shareholders.

Good Firm and Great Team

Pros

Gen II is a forward-looking firm that generally gets many things right, including growth and employee treatment. There are good opportunities to grow and take on responsibility. The work is generally independent, but there is still a fair bit of collaboration. The work-life balance feels great to me compared to my prior accounting roles, but I would expect at least some overtime during certain times of the quarter.

Cons

The office culture is on the poorer side of what I've experienced. Seating assignments don't usually make sense—teams are often spread apart and you have to go out of your way to try to make opportunities to connect with your team.

Like the collaborative culture and peer connections. Firm is very diverse and people genuinely care about each other.

Cons

High growth comes with some pain points - standardization is not the priority and you have to constantly adjust and adapt

People are friendly and supportive. Workload is manageable and people are generally collaborative and helpful when you ask questions.

Cons

Training is limited and unclear. Many processes are learned through trial and error, which can feel frustrating for new hires without proper guidance.

Smaller financial firm than most where you can interact with teams and build connections. Flexible work from home arrangements. Good place to work for entry level positions.

Cons

If you're an experienced individual, you'll be frustrated with processes. In office culture needs to be built. Management lacks organization, team management and communication skills. No direct path to career mobility.

Pros

Growing company with a lot of opportunity for professional growth and advancement. Company invests in strong performers and promotes from within. The people are the best thing about Gen II. Great co-workers and managers. A friendly, collaborative, and supportive culture. Employees are encouraged to take initiative and share feedback and ideas. Flexible work with hybrid schedule with 2 days per week in the office. The NY office is a really nice modern space. Office perks include a weekly lunch credit, office events, and annual parties including a summer boat cruise.

Cons

Benefits could be improved, esp. health insurance and well-being benefits. Other than that I have had a positive experience - it's been a great place to work!
