Micromanaging CEO

Pros

The building location was the only positive 20 word minimum I could come up with. Oh and Charlie Palmers in the building is a pro.

Cons

The CEO thinks he knows business. When in fact he is about micromanaging and telling experts how to do their jobs. Not only is his personal information on the daily calendar but he has to the the alpha dog when around women. Sound crazy? Well you couldnt make this stuff up. Sends emails to attractive govt employees while at a conference that state "Hi from behind you". Not sure his wife would approve... Then proceeds to berate his employee for talking to that Federal employee who happens to be a decision maker. Only to be told she isnt important focus on the others (men) at the conference. When in fact all were equally worked. Additionally, GCIO wants your contacts in Salesforce and introductions then you are no longer needed. This was done once a certain area of a govt entity was introduced. 2 trips were planned and 1 completed. Not to mention a $25K annual raise was coming due within the next pay period. Makes you scratch your head? Again can’t make it up. Weekly Friday reports are such a joy to add to the already joyous culture. This is also per the CEO to go with the rest of his fantastic characteristics. This is just the surface, and the IG might want to review some of the other practices but that is for another day… Perrier Jouet anyone?

If their Lips are Moving, Then They are Lying.

Pros

In retrospect, I can't think of anything kind to say that wouldn't disingenuous.

Cons

Treachery pretty much describes the corporate culture of Nestor Consulting LLC (DBA GovernmentCIO). This is a company run by two smooth talking Machiavellian predators. They have their "good cop" / "bad cop" posturing honed to a fine art. Rampant deceit and misdirection lurks behind a mask of silky bromides and sweet nothings about being a part of something great. In response to its high turnover problem in 2015, the company changed its policy for accrued Personal Time-Off (PTO). For all departing employees, they don’t pay it. Also, they renege on promised promotions and pay raises. The work their people hard, and then throw them away. The list of victims is long, documentable, and will undoubtedly grow longer. All of this will come as a shock to the unwary employee foolish enough to give two-week notice, without first using up all their accumulated PTO. The company has a bad habit of unceremonious termination of trusting employees whose immediate purpose are fulfilled. Unfortunately, the company's high turnover rate is now safely hidden behind its recent successful capture of a large number of new Federal contracts, and the almost doubling of employees and contractors. If you admire deceit and misdirection, then you will just love working for this Company. If you don't, then beware. If their lips are moving, then they are lying. Newly acquired vice presidents, managers, and project managers, you too will someday be thrown under the bus like the many that have come before you. This company has been named by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of the top Veteran Owned Businesses, two years in a row. Perhaps an email from all former GCIO employees to its editors suggesting that they tighten up their due diligence process would be in order.

It is unfortunate that you didn’t have a positive experience with the company and we appreciate your feedback. Your description of senior leaders is concerning and I would welcome any specific information that supports your perception and can be used to improve our company. We have grown tremendously in the last two years and continue make investments and improvements in the company. Based on our desire to enhance the transition process, we have revised our paid time off policy and now distribute all accrued leave to departing employees.

Pros

This company definitely is writing their own reviews. There is no way the CEO changed his ways overnight. I am almost certain I can pinpoint who is writing these.

Cons

This is the biggest micromanaged companies I have ever seen. If they offer you a job, run. It won't last and not the environment being portrayed on this message board.
