Pros

Great environment for software development - very casual, work closely with QA and BA teams to make the best decisions. Provided laptops and latest versions of software while encouraged to expand knowledge and learn new technology to help keep products up to date. Company provided snacks always available. Full game room with arcade cabinets, pool, and ping pong for employee use. Developers are proactive and involved. Flexible scheduling allows for missing rush hour daily. Solid PTO and health care benefits. All development is purely internal and well planned which allows for little to no extra hours work.

Cons

The biggest con is no work from home options. However, management has implemented many perks to improve the on-site environment. Because the development environment is young, mistakes can be made as the team learns together. But I would also consider this a pro because we have the opportunity to control our own processes and try different options.

Pros

My direct coworkers were fun.

Cons

I would echo a lot of the complaints I’ve seen in the other reviews. Pay is below average and annual raises were in the 2-3% range. At one point I received a title increase without a pay increase. There was a revolving door of people starting then leaving the company within a year. There were a handful of agents who were a nightmare to deal with. Rude, always mad, and it was always our fault. Most times it seemed like the marketers had their backs over the operations team because they didn’t want to lose their cut of the commission. Overall, it felt like the marketers looked down on the operations staff. This wasn’t the case for all of them, but it was the overall feeling. Felt like a dead end job with no meaningful room for growth. Benefits were below average as well with the 401k match only being 50% match up to 3%. No equipment supplied for remote work.

Dear Former Employee, We appreciate you taking the time to inform us as to how you felt about your time at Gradient. We have reviewed the concerns you brought forward. At Gradient, we conduct a thorough compensation review each year, going to market to compare our pay rates against industry data from similarly sized companies. We carefully evaluate each role based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and workload required. Based on this research, we’re confident that all positions at Gradient are compensated fairly. Regarding employee turnover, over the past five years, our organization has consistently maintained a turnover rate below the national average for companies of similar size and industry. Notably, 2024 marked our lowest turnover rate within that five-year period. We recognize that customer interactions can vary, and we appreciate the professionalism our team brings to every situation. Our focus remains on providing respectful, high-quality service, even when conversations may be more challenging. Similarly, many of our marketers work hard to support and collaborate with all teams, including operations. While it sounds like Gradient wasn’t a great fit for your employment, we have many employees who are thriving and growing in our environment. We are hopeful that your current or future employer will better match your skillset and needs.

Pros

* Steady pay * Casual atmosphere * Friendly coworkers

Cons

Where to even start with this place. This company is 10 years behind every other place. They never make any proactive decisions, only reactive. They don't care about the employees or their lively hoods until they are forced to. Most managers are highly unqualified for their roles. Here's a laundry list of things that are wrong: 1. Coworkers have made sexual harassment allegations and have shown management and HR proof of it happening multiple times. I won't get into many of the details here, but know there was a plethora of evidence of sexual harassment happening and nothing was done about it. Complaints were taken to HR and people only receive a metaphorical slaps on the wrist. Gradient claims to have a zero tolerance policy for this kind of thing. They do not enforce it. Upper management should be ashamed of themselves. 2. Pay is well below market rates, and the only way to get a raise is to receive an offer from another company and give it to management as proof of your worth. Raises most years are only 2% to cover inflation (but that won't stop the company from spending frivolously). 3. Even if you want to leave Gradient for another company in the finance world, they may fight you tooth and nail on their "non-compete" agreement. You may even receive a threatening legal letter in the mail. 4. Benefits package is a joke. Health insurance is expensive ($200/month for a $5000 deductible plan). 401k match only matches $1200 per year, and has a vesting period for three years. If you leave before three years, you get none of the match. And guess what, this company didn't even have a 401k match until a year ago. That's right, a financial firm that is in the business of insurance and investments, didn't even have a retirement plan worth anything until recently (and it's barely worth anything). 5. Upper management still believes in quantity over quality in the number of hours you put in. They believe people who only put in the minimum of "40 hours a week" are only doing the bare minimum, no matter if you are completing all of your work and doing it well. Mind you, this place is never that busy, and it's very rare that anyone would have to exceed 40 hours. 6. You are required to be at your cubicle for 8-9 hours a day. Even though it's been proven that many workers are much more efficient when they don't have to commute just to sit in a cubicle all day, no one is allowed to work from home but most everyone in that office could do their jobs from home. Upper management thinks most of the employees would just slack off. Seems like a big lack of respect and trust. 7. The marketing department is often referred to as the "arts and crafts" department by the CEO and sales teams. Not in a cute and funny way but in a derogatory and demeaning manner. 8. Everyone is salaried but are required to punch a clock still. And yes, management will micro manage your clock. Are you 3 minutes late? They may ask you to use PTO. This is not a joke...sadly. Did a blizzard snow you in or did your car not start in -50 degree weather and you are late because of it? Probably would have to use PTO. 9. Management. Some upper and middle managers are unqualified for their roles. 10. There is almost no growth for employees here. Professional development is lacking. Some managers have started to take initiatives to rectify this, but most haven't. 11. Management writes Glassdoor reviews to cover up the negative ones. 12. Communication throughout departments is severely lacking. 13: Turnover is incredibly high. Employees leave the first chance they get. Not because they were fired, but because they found better opportunities and companies that aren't still operating like it's 1985 (the grass is DEFINITELY greener). I will stop there. I could rant for days about the negatives of this place, but it's draining. Only take a job here if you absolutely need a paycheck. Most of you can do better than this place.

Dear Former Employee, Thank you for your review. Gradient Financial Group has and will always strongly oppose sexism, racism, and harassment of any kind. If and when there is any kind of allegation, action is taken to stop the alleged conflict, protect the involved parties, and provide a thorough and unbiased investigation. Our employees are our most valuable asset. As we move from a small business to a medium-sized organization, we have introduced many new leaders from outside of the organization who have held long and successful careers at well-known corporations as well as promoted new leaders from within the organization to support employees’ growth. We have also made a significant investment in hiring additional staff. We are continuously working on how to best grow our talent and are actively implementing a number of efforts that support continued education and growth plans for all employees. As part of our growth, we have also introduced a number of important benefits in the recent past to thank and reward employees for their loyal service. Gradient Financial Group will continue to be an industry leader in both the financial services and insurance industries. However, that commitment to our clients requires employees to be present and available to our customers during core business hours. We have always sought to be transparent about our hours of operation as well as our benefits, and we apologize they did not better align with your needs. We appreciate the role you played in our growth while you were here, and we hope your departure from the Gradient family of companies has allowed you to find continued success.

Pros

You got off at 5 Nothings really good about this place. Worked here for almost 3 years now and not 1 raise. But the company will brag about useless spending to treat marketers like royalty but they can't give admins a dollar more raise? It's like come on, you're using the companies private jet to fly employees all around and even to the Bahamas but can't pay us a dollar more? They really like to sell you that they're a family there. I guess that's true, if your family was in flowers in the attic

Cons

Listen to marketers brag about their paychecks while the admins who are the workforce, who build the relationship with the clients, and do all the accounting get paid and treated like a disease Marketers have a scam where they try to buddy up with the new female coworker and tell them how they want to be friends, and how they want to help them make tons of money by working in marketing just to get into their pants. It gets worst and yes they're all married. One of thems spouse works there with him but she's obvious to it. It's been all reported to HR and they didn't even care and swept under the rug.

Dear Current Employee, It is unfortunate this has been your experience. We strive to ensure our employees feel valued for the contributions they make on behalf of our company and work in an environment that promotes healthy work relationships. With regards to compensation, we complete reviews and compensation increases annually. We consider market value for all non-sales positions, and employee performance in role. If an employee were to not receive a salary increase or receive a below average increase, it would be due to sub-standard performance in role. We question the validity of the accusations in this post based on the fact that we have not had a single employee in an admin role receive a 0% salary increase 3 review periods in a row. We encourage you to reach out to the HR team to discuss. Your perceptions of company travel, and treatment of our marketers is grossly inaccurate. We have events for our financial service professionals, much like other sales organization. The marketers in attendance at those events are working long hard hours during those events. Unfortunately, you are receiving some very inaccurate and unfortunate information. As for the complaint regarding interpersonal relationships, the HR team takes formal complaints very seriously should they be received via standard reporting procedures as defined in the employee handbook. If you’d like to schedule a meeting with HR, please do so via internal email or phone. Unfortunately, it sounds like this job hasn’t been a great fit for you. We wish you all the best in finding something that is a better fit for your future. That being said, I would strongly encourage you to meet with HR as it sounds like you have a lot of misconceptions about Gradient and the business we are in. We are happy that you found value in the training you received in your tenure.
