Pros

The customers were nice, mainly elderly people and vegans.

Cons

- Our store team was constantly berated by the head office team for the shelves looking empty, when we they didn't send us the products we needed to keep it filled up. - Constantly lone working but were somehow expected to refill shelves when the stockroom was upstairs, and to help bring in a delivery, but we weren't supposed to leave the store unattended - very confusing mixed messages. - Cashing up was always done alone and the store didn't have CCTV making it feel very unsafe to be doing in full view of the public road. - Not allowed a drink on the shop floor, it had to be kept in the back but again, we weren't allowed to leave the shop floor. Also couldn't go to the toilet. - Stock constantly being kept on the back stairs. - Being forced to keep the doors open in freezing weather conditions! Even the customers were complaining.

I hate this place.

Pros

• Staff discount of 20% • We can take any damaged/out of date stock home • At Christmas we get a bottle of cheap wine each (which isn't fair if you don't drink?)

Cons

• Minimum wage (only an extra £1.00 hourly wage for store managers) • Lone trading • ZERO interaction from Head Office (I've been manager for a year and never met anybody from H.O in person, not even my Area Manager), all communication is via emails or VERY occasionally a call to the work phone. No wonder things get lost and forgotten! • ZERO training on products, and then we're criticised for not knowing anything and having a bad Mystery Shopper score. I'm not doing my own research. YOU should be teaching us about the products we sell. • They want us to use the most minimal hours we can refuse to hire more people per store, so if somebody is sick/unable to work, it's a real struggle to find cover • Expected to work above and beyond what the pay reflects • They'd rather we don't have breaks, even when working 9-6pm (which I do often, as staff are unable to cover so I have to work all day!! With no break!!!) • Head Office are patronising and think they're above all of us shop-peons, this is obvious in the way they reply to emails (if they reply at all, of course!)

Shambolic at best

Pros

There are no pros unfortunately

Cons

Shambolic company - run badly by a bunch of small minded people who wouldn’t be able to get a job anywhere else. No training or support given to stores and an all round horrible culture - low pay and no benefits.
