Toxic workplace

Pros

Diverse roster of clients ranging from engineering-based companies to universities and food purveyors. Highwater constantly offers new services, so if there is something you think businesses would benefit from, you can implement it into the plan.

Cons

Micromanagement from the top makes everything difficult to get done. Because it's a small company, everyone "wears many hats", meaning you have your own accounts but you are also managing all accounts for all clients in some capacity and often assisting management. You will be called into offices and yelled orders at, then complete the assignment and often it will not be correct. If you ask questions, they will be rephrased to be stated in a way management would like them to be asked. Everyone is stretched very thin and it's often difficult to get assets approved by the top before client meetings. This creates stress for all parties involved and lends itself to a lot of yelling, swearing, and blaming. If you are joining the team right out of college/early 20s, be prepared to have everything approved by management and then rejected before anything moves forward. Often things are late because internal approval was not received to move forward. There is not a good work/life balance here either, you are expected to work from 8:00am to after 6pm every day and rarely take lunch breaks. Weekend work is common as well.

Pros

Vast industries to work with

Cons

These reviews are fake because the CEO cannot take criticism and make changes based on honest feedback. He can’t keep a single employee for more than a year, that says enough. You will not learn here. You will get cursed out and yelled out and also hear it daily. You will get diminished and you will not be able to make any progress. You will be hounded about work when there are not any clear guidelines or they are always changing. Communication is absolutely horrible, so you wait around for an answer and no work gets done, but then get hounded obnoxiously. This company is and always will be a shady start up. I saw people’s personalities change like a flip of a switch from how toxic this workplace was for them. Do not bother even associating with this company.

Toxic Mess

Pros

Some really talented people work there

Cons

The upper management at Highwater is toxic, loves to gaslight, and has no sense of direction. Highwater touts itself as a marketing company, but it’s far from that. I was constantly told that “results are all that matter” yet the strategies we executed had little to no impact for our clients. No matter what I said or suggested, I was always wrong, even when I did what I was told to do. Constantly my direct manager threw me under the bus, placed the blame on me, and never did what a manager is supposed to do—MANAGE. I left because I had no faith in Highwater, and no future.
