Pros

They are at the front line of the social media scene and has foresight, though not always accurate, but you can learn stuffs there quickly if you're hardworking enough. Colleagues there are generally super friendly, helpful and cooperative, hardworking bunch which strives to keep clients happy.

Cons

Bosses can be really bossy and you'll be nailed badly if you're against their ideas, so the best way to survive there is to be a yes man and you'll be their favourite even if you don't perform exceptionally well. Company likes to split itself into different entities like ihub Media, IH Digital, iRiver Asia Advertising, Asia App Developer, but all are the same top management, which confuses you. Pros

The application process is quick. Only after a few days of my application online, I was called for an interview with COO. During the interview, he focused on convincing me why I should work for them. And the main reason is that I'll be trained and exposed to all digital marketing aspects.

Cons

So many cons I can't list all....There are many disadvantages for the employees in the contract. 1. Appointment Without informing me, in the contract, i was offered Accounts Executive in iRiver Asia while I applied for marketing position in IH Digital. When i asked them, they said the title is internal title using across region and follows standard contract so there is no change to that. How about the company? Well, because they find me more suitable for iRiver than IH. Hmm, so why didn't you tell me about that? 2. Hours of work Following the contract, you can be required to work as many days as they want you to. And there will not be any payment for these days. This literally means that you can be required to work 365 days/ year. When i ask HR, she said "yes it means you can be required to work on weekends/public holiday ANYTIME. But we don't foresee that and don't encourage our employees to do so...Employees will work OT/on weekends when they need to complete their tasks" ... But is this true? You'll never know. If you are required to work more than you want, you cannot argue. I told them that if they don't encourage and if it's employees' choice, just remove the statement--> of course they disagreed with my suggestion 3. Notice period The notice period for employees is longer than that for employers. This is against Employment Act and I pointed it out to them--> they say: "we follow standard of the regions..." 4. Benefits In the contract, medical benefits are not provided during probation period. When I ask HR, they said medical card will be provided. Therefore, I proposed to remove the incorrect sentence--> Again, their answer is "we follow the standard contract across region" 5. Non-compete terms The non-compete terms are really tricky. You are required not to work for any competitors (any digital company) in their current region (a lot of countries in Asia) and even FUTURE region (which you can't anticipate) within 18 MONTHS after termination of contract. 18 months of unemployment, you will probably apply for some other jobs but digital marketing. So what's the 2 years of training, experience and hard-work using for? I propose to shorten the non-compete period--> Of course, again, they "follow standard across regions..." 6. Salary+ Penalty Your salary will be fixed for two years no matter how much you work/achieve. No bonus, nothing. If you terminate the contract at anytime before the end of 2 years, you will have to pay them 6k ( two months salary) At the end of two years, receive 9k 7. They can always retract the offer One nice day, they emailed me that because they can't meet my proposed changes, they decided to retract the offer.

Pros

STRATEGIC LOCATION - You can smoke with CEO at the rooftop, nice view - The rooftop is a good hideout place, you make some smoking friends, sometimes. - You get some great friends, well just some. - Many choices for food

Cons

I don't know where to start. Well I get the expectation vs reality, but this is way too much and and far beyond reality. MICROMANAGE - The bosses micromanage every single thing. They're too free to just sit in the office and scroll through the Workplace by Facebook (well basically Facebook) to pick on everyone. - They even ask questions like WHERE IS YOUR PROFILE PICTURE, I DON'T KNOW WHO ARE YOU. Well, if you don't know your staffs as a boss, that's too sad to mention. - The bosses wanted you to make Facebook timeline as your time sheet. How ridiculous, very unprofessional. - They forces you to write something and be active on Facebook when you're suppose to put more effort in work, hence you need to OT sometimes just because you need to fill in your Timeline. REIMBURSEMENT - They only reimburse the travel expenses or business trip only to their favorite people. The contracts are all given unfair and lots of unduly terms. UNDULY TERMS OF CONTRACT - The management forces you to sign off many unfair criteria after tender resignation and will "suggest" you to leave earlier after you have given your resignation and notices without paying you further for what you deserve. - This company doesn't go by law, they even forces many staffs to leave and make them work more than they should. FAVORITISM - The bosses always say I don't play favoritism but act like one. Their words and actions don't match all the time. They will only treat their favorite people as human, the rest are tools. Tools making wealth for the company. RACIST - The bosses are racist, very racist. They criticizes almost every races, but guess what? They're earning the money from the races they criticize. They even have offices in Thailand, China (they claimed that they have, just an address), Philippine (not sure if they still have staffs there), Malaysia, HK etc. They claimed they've 8 offices but some offices there's only a few staffs including freelancers. - Funny part is they criticizes the races to the expats staffs which are part of the races, isn't it insulting? Anyone willing to work for you when you criticizes everyone and claiming that you're the best ? Oh please. Well one of the reason the bosses never pick on Singaporean (90%, there are still 1 or 2 nice SG staffs): 1. Their favorite 2. They're the best 3. Expats are cheap labour UNFAIR WORKLOAD - There are always someone very free without any workloads and yet complaining I've so much to do when they have the time to cut nails in office (very loud and distracting) , set up and manage personal social media accounts, writing articles on personal blog - Some people only handle 1 account and yet they complaint they've no time when we handle much more than 5 accounts yet the pay is much lower. BOSSES ARE "GREAT" SALESMAN - They put all the blame on you when they can't get the deal. Everything is your fault when they themselves don't go through the pitching slides. - They blame on the Account Manager who doesn't work hard on case study to do pitching when the slides are well done and the bosses himself can't even read the slides, not even pronouncing and explaining to clients (what a shame) UNHYGIENIC - Management tends to put the trash bin upside down every Friday to avoid the need to throw rubbish. Complaint to management on cockroaches and ants, management ask you not to eat on your desks (when I don't even have food on my desks) FUNNY. - SG colleague tells you the cockroach will go away, China colleague helps you to kill the cockroach. NEGATIVITY EVERYWHERE - No positivity in the company, if you've done well not even a single praise, well if you did a single mistake you're out. You'll be nag for the rest of the year (at least 4 months) - Sick leaves claim to be faking holidays. I suggest they read through Employment Act and memorize it. - Employees are human, we're not robots or tools to work 24/7 for you. If you don't have a life, you don't expect people to do the same as you. - They didn't want to invest in their product to strengthen it but only wants to get money from clients when the product itself is not workable.
