Rome is burning

Pros

Free fruit and soda. I worked with some educated, talented, hard working people who got nowhere within the company because they weren't friends or didn't have "relations" with upper management. Laid back attire, even though people would come looking like they haven't showered in 5 days after binging on alcohol or other substances. Bonuses are decent, however if they paid well enough then we wouldn't need a bonus to get by. Good work-life balance, but they don't pay enough for you to have money to do things. I will say though, the company is very LGBTQIA friendly.

Cons

Worst case of cronyism I've ever seen. Management is completely inept; they come and go as they please, but heaven forbid you get stuck in traffic due to an unforeseen accident, you'll be wondering if you are having your bonus revoked or getting written up. I almost felt compelled to notate when management arrived and left because it was so sporadic and surprising when they came in on time. I also watched the QA & management teams take cigarette after cigarette break while employees toiled away on the phone. I honestly wondered if anyone in QA did anything BUT take cigarette breaks. It does not matter how intelligent or hardworking or skilled or educated you are, you are not going anywhere unless you are someone's drinking buddy or "other" buddy. Customers absolutely despise this company, and for good reason. It uses antiquated technology and shady business practices to get sales. They put a lot of pressure on people to make the sales that they end up making illegal sales. There is no real incentive to try hard; bonuses are based on metrics that you can easily surpass if you figure out how the system works. No one really cares what you do, just don't make any mistakes and you will fly under the radar. I am glad I got out when I did, I cannot see the company being in business for much longer in the US. I felt like I was Tacitus watching Rome burn, as Nero (management) was happily fiddling away.

Still incompetent, still making every wrong decision

Pros

Free Fruit and Coffee, Good entry level jobs to train you for a real job at a real company.

Cons

Upper management is still making every wrong decision at every opportunity. If you're in upper management it doesn't matter how much you mess up, how incompetent you are or how racist you are, you aren't getting fired. Although, if you're on the floor dealing with customers, then you'll get fired for any number of reasons that may even be outside of your control. We have a history of incidents where clear racist comments have been said and somehow none if these incidents ever ended up in that employee getting fired. The specific comments can't even be added to this form because Glassdoor requires me to "remove the bad language". It's absolutely unacceptable to use in appropriate terms to describe someone when you have an employee under you with special needs. This level of protectionism destroys any credibility of the company while these managers are still employed. Our new COO has started pushing for ePNS and is trying to make employees happier here however managers in the US are paid bonuses based on these eNPS scores. This means that they manipulate the numbers however they can to get better numbers without actually trying to do anything to improve the workplace. Either the COO is stupid or they haven't learned about our culture of manipulating numbers at this company.
