Pros

If you are employed here it is literally impossible to be fired for futile work. If you are a lazy, non self starter, non motivated individual, this is the place for you. Hang in there and you will be praised for simply staying on board and given raises, etc.

Cons

Diverse portfolio and Sr. Management has no idea what is important in the business units. Many come from outside the oil and gas industry and hang their hats on powerpoint presentations and excel files wrapped around never ending "new programs", which the CEO is enamored with. These new programs are only for talk and never materialize. Middle managers are left to manage all customer relations, claims, trouble shooting, problem solving, strategic development for growth, pricing, etc. Middle management and lower level workers work long hours and carry the weight to keep the business running while Senior Managers play golf, tinker with irrelevant powerpoints, claim they are directing the show, and take credit for all work that leads to positive results. If something leads to negative results, Sr. Management will simply point fingers and play the blame game while exercising the LBF rule of zero accountability. Facilities run with no management on site and it is detrimental to the moral of plant employees. This is the norm. The Managers will receive major pay raises and promotions based on profitable operations in which they played little to no part in. Last, if you play politics well you have a career here.

Toxic

Pros

None at all, toxic environment

Cons

Penny-pinching UK management expect too much from under-resourced and over-stretched teams, key people are leaving and not being replaced. Promotions and pay rises are only available to the old boys' club which makes up most of the middle-management tier. Unrealistic forecasts are fed back to the US and no recognition is given to the staff on the ground who bend over backwards to try and achieve them. The only way they know how to invest is to acquire other companies which they then neglect.
