Pros

Fast paced work environment, multitasking, good people

Cons

THE OWNER IS NUTS!!! I worked at this company for over 15 years and it brings a new meaning to “thankless job”. The owner bullies, harasses, intimidates, demeans, constantly undermines management, doesn’t allow any independent thinking, causes divisive amongst employees, verbally & mentally abusive, possibly clinically bipolar, takes micro-managing to a whole new level of mini-micro management, only uses the company as his own playground to feel relevant somewhere in this world but constantly reminds ppl “he’s made his money & this is a hobby & he can close the doors at any time!” AS LONG AS HE IS THERE STAY AWAY!!! P.S. He has hired a person to post fake good reviews about the company and he also asks employees to post good reviews to offset all the bad the reviews. If you’ve ever worked there you know the truth, “IT’s NOT A JOB FOR NORMAL PEOPLE”! He bullies you with your paycheck. He is the worst owner I’ve ever met or heard of PERIOD

Lightology Response

As the CEO of Lightology, I am saddened that such a long-lasting good relationship has come to an end. We truly value the commitment and dedication of our most loyal employees, especially those who have provided us over 15 years of service. Due to professional and creative differences that ultimately affected the business, the relationship had to come to an end. We hope nothing but success for this employee on his future endeavors.

Cons

Umm, to list all of the cons about this place will take more time that I want to give to this place. It’s chaos. There’s no cohesiveness, communication, or understanding what a positive and successful work environment is. Believe the word of mouth: the owner is an egotistical jerk with a temper that no one has time for. Intimidating your employees doesn’t create positive results, and you would think after reading all of those negative Yelp and Glassdoor reviews things would have changed* I didn't move cross country to accept a job where I had to witness genuinely experienced, hard working salespeople and their assistants that I have come to really get to know personally get randomly let go. How can you let someone go without any reasoning and without warning? If you have an opinion on how to make things work better and more swiftly, it won't be heard, and cross my fingers that changes happen immediately. In the meantime, I’ll be here sipping my tea waiting for the person that the CEO hired to respond to these reviews try to defend what can’t be defended. * umm, nope.

Pros

Occasionally they paid for lunch, lolol.

Cons

I worked here several years ago. The CEO is bonkers, and one of my coworkers in marketing was tasked with writing fake positive Yelp reviews, so I have no doubt all the 5 star reviews here that gush over the owner, Greg Kay, are also fake. He was a narcissist with (I'm pretty sure) a severe pill addiction who liked to come into the middle of the office to have screaming tantrums at workers at random. The whole place had a feel of grim acceptance, and an insanely high turnover rate among saner new hires. Pay and benefits were crap, and I finally left when the already bad health insurance premium doubled (quotes from HR: "because you all have so many health problems" and "because Obamacare") and the company strongly suggested everyone get marketplace health insurance (through Obamacare?) because they were no longer going to contribute more than 40%. Honestly it was a convenient excuse for me to leave a really bad situation. I'm really surprised the place is still, or ever even was, in business.
