Pros

A couple of months ago I would have said the people/teams, the leadership’s transparency, and a great, nontoxic, atmosphere. This has all changed with the current recession. You know how they say you see someone’s real character when things start to go sour? Well, this ship is sinking. Don’t work here. Period.

Cons

First, they violently laid off a lot of great people. The process was awful for all sides, and you’d expect they had learnt a lesson or two. Now, they are doing the exact same thing, but instead, silently letting people who were in probation go. No goodbyes, no warnings to rectify, no thank you card, no goodbye. Just logged out of everything and that’s it. Transactional and inhumane. I know people being let go who are fantastic professionals and human beings who didn’t deserve such treatment. On top of that, it is the very people at the top who aren’t able to take any accountability and are constantly pointing fingers to save their very selves.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate that you've taken the time to share your honest opinion with us. We care very deeply for our employees, and your feedback plays an important role in highlighting what we can do better. We are a fast-growing startup with its own set of challenges, and we acknowledge that we can improve on our communication and feedback mechanisms. We are currently taking steps to address these areas (i.e. through structured feedback and probation reviews, people management training).

Pros

*decent office location *some good people

Cons

There are many things wrong with Moss, and I hope this post will help them to improve it: Lack of organisation The company hired a lot of people in September and then, one month later, laid off more than 15%. The London office, at some point, had four managers for a team of 8-10 SDRs Lack of diversity. Most people in the London office were white British, Canadian and Irish. In a bizarre coincidence, during the last layoffs, primarily people from a minority background and immigrants were affected in the London Team. Socials and alcohol Most socials included a considerable amount of alcohol. The socials were organised on Thursdays, and the sales team had to come to the office on Fridays. When you do socials on Thursdays, let people work from home on Fridays. Favourtism and cliques Many cliques with secret slack channels. Senior SDRs were getting better leads than anyone else. Mental health I have seen people getting burnout due to mental health. Tech Some people were getting Macbooks and other old, slow Lenovo. Working hours You expected to be in the office from 8:45. Most people feared leaving before 5:45.

Pros

What is good about Moss are the people, there are a lot of excellent people working at Moss, just they are not listened to by management. If you manage to stay in long enough and the company will not fail you can grow fast in any position you hold.

Cons

The level of childishness and arrogance coming especially from C-level is completely unrivalled. Professionals are attracted with high salaries and big words but are treated like children in a kinder-garden when it comes to making decision. Success is not defined by comprehensive feedback cycles or actual KPIs, you can get fired for having the wrong shape of nose. (meaning it's random) You either burn everyone around you and eventually yourself or you burn out yourself. Any initiatives to improve broken structures are shrugged off or laughed at by key decision-makers, doing so standing in the way of the company moving forward. Internally a set of values are communicated but not lived by at all by management. To anyone that does wish to join this Start-up, make sure to put on your biggest fake smile you have and fix it and above all learn to say yes to everything.
